As a dynamic and growing business, we are looking for an additional Ecologist at the Senior or Principal level to join our small but enthusiastic and friendly team permanently. The successful applicant will take responsibility for running ecology projects from initial concept to completion, including quoting for work and liaising with clients and in-house teams. Working alongside the arboricultural and landscape design teams supporting a range of clients across the UK by providing a ‘joined-up thinking’ approach to projects, the ideal candidate will have a direct influence on projects at all levels. This position offers excellent long-term prospects with an expanding company and a chance to help us shape the future of the business.
The job will involve, but not be restricted to:
- Liaising with clients over instructions and agreeing on briefs;
- Producing quotations & answering general project & fee related queries;
- Carrying out extended phase 1 habitat surveys;
- Hedgerow Surveys;
- Report writing to a high standard;
- BNG assessments, reporting & liaison with stakeholders;
- BREEAM Surveys & Reports;
- Protected Species Surveys;
- Project management & Liaison with client teams;
- Ensuring that projects are completed to deadlines as per the agreed brief & within budget;
- Liaising with clients & stakeholders.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years of consultancy experience (10 years for applicants for the Principal role);
- Protected species licences: minimum level 1 or 2 bat licence & GCN licence;
- Previously named on European Protected Species Development Licences;
- Positive approach to client projects;
- Commercial awareness;
- Ability and willingness to work unusual hours;
- Project management experience;
- Highly organised;
- Works well under pressure.
